Como Cabana

Como Cabana

A Poem by Katie Kistler
"

I went to a house show a few weeks ago with my friends and it made us really nostalgic, seeing as we had a place very similar to it at home that was shut down for basically no reason

"
are you a resident true blue?
just like me do you want to
bleed a little more?
my hands are covered in black ink
from all the things I had to say
but I can only think
deadbeat poetry and coffee
way too burnt to be okay
kind of like my brain
don't stop mouthing off to fat cops
you know they shut the basement down
our lowly little home

we ran away to the cities for a day
in the Como Cabana where only misfits play
we smelled like cigarettes and stolen clothes
with vegan food at midnight
our futures seeming much too close
on the drive back home at twilight
in the Como Cabana we found our sense of home
in the Como Cabana no longer alone
