The Color of WordsA Poem by Katie Marie
A poem is a unique art,
painted not with the colors of the rainbow, but with the color of words. A poet, like an artist, chooses his or her colors carefully, as to not mix the wrong ones and ruin the image. If a poet were to write, 'His eyes are dark blue.' it would not create the correct effect. The sentence needs some shading to blend the colors well. If a poet were to write, 'His eyes glimmer with the color of the dark ocean depths.' it would add much, much more, to the writer's artwork. A poet can take words, and, without being there in person, paint a flawless picture into the mind of the reader. © 2012 Katie MarieAuthor's Note
