Ripples on the Water

Ripples on the Water

A Poem by Katie Marie

On rainy days,
I stare at the pond.
I watch the ripples on the water,
As the rain falls gently down over me.

With my arms outstretched,
I feel the wind flow through me.
It rejuvenates me,
Making me feel new in this old body.

I am older than you could imagine,
Yet still thriving.
I am part of history itself even.
And I have been in this place
For hundreds of years.

For hundreds of years I have watched,
Watched as the seasons changed,
Watched more sunrises and sunsets than you could imagine,
And watched the ripples on the water,
During every rain.

I am the willow.

Just something I had to write for creative writing...it's not too complicated since I only had about 5 minutes to write it. We were told to write a type of voice poetry, meaning that you write a poetry based on another person or thing's feelings, emotions, and thoughts.

I like it. Especially the picture you put as it, that's what really made me want to read. very beautiful scenery. It's pretty awesome that you wrote this in 5 minutes. I would love to see what you could write within an hour. You should start putting the time you took to write stuff in the description. Just a thought xP It would be very cool. Altogether a great poem. I always enjoy reading your writings.

It is a very nice piece.
The poet charmed me with her mastery by pulling down to the last line and shouting,"Surprise!"
In fact I could not speculate anyway that the piece would end with the amazing line,"I am the willow."

I thoroughly enjoy when a poet can create a beautiful poem and assume the perceptive of something other than love or any other emotion. Your poem reminds me of many of the poems that I wrote about different objects or things in nature. Well done

A amazing poem. The old willows could tell story of history and mystery. I enjoyed the story in this poem. Description gave life and strength to the poem.

Thank you for the outstanding poem.

really enjoyed this, conveyed a lot of meaning of passing time whilst seeming to slow down tme in your piece (if that makes sense)
