Save A LifeA Poem by Katie Marie
I need...
We say this all the time, Without thinking. I need this, I need that, But do we really need it all? The answer is no. We don't need, We want. We want it all, Then when we get that, We want more. This gets to the height, Of thinking we are always in need. The only people that should ever say, I need... Are the people that have nothing. The people with no food. The people with no clothes. These are the people that can say, I need... So why don't we just help these people? We don't, Because we are selfish. We don't, Because we don't know how it feels, To be starving. We don't, Because we don't know how it feels, To have no warmth. You walk into a store, And there is usually that little jar, That little box, To put your extra change. But most just look at it, And walk away. Why? Well, we need that money, right? Wrong. We want that money. We think that there is something, Something better than that box, That the change could go to. We don't stop to think, That if we put a little bit in the box, We could save a life. If we put a little bit in the box, We could keep someone warm at night. So, listen to yourself when you speak. Do you find yourself saying I need, I need, I need? We don't need, We want. © 2011 Katie MarieFeatured Review
