Cracks on my ceiling

Cracks on my ceiling

A Poem by Kathy Mc Cathy
"

We were like cheese and cracker

"

Our cemented connection was never supposed to break

It was never supposed to wither away

Wish I could join you in your journey

But if I do , I’d convince you to stay back with me

Because when you miss someone , you reminisce their memories

How you & I met on the first day of middle school

And made the music of you & I , my favorite melody

Humming in the corridors , you made me the audacious , as I am now

Started as friends , thinking bout being close forever

High-school ‘s been bit tough we ‘ve been further apart

Looking at the cracks on my ceiling

Reminds me of us , the crack in our friendship which wasn’t supposed to happen

Used to buy us dark chocolate at the mart

And singing funny songs and rappin and tappin

Ahh what memorable and enjoyable moments we had

We were like cheese and cracker

Couldn't even stand a day apart

Now all i got are cracks on my ceiling

And memories of all the warm and tingly lost feelings

Cracks in a friendship can survive, but if left unattended can become broken beyond repair. Sad when that happens. Sometimes people grow apart, ither times they have disagreements. Relatabke poetry Kathy.

Yeah ur right , thanks for dropping by chris
WAAAY back in high school, I remember thinking I could stay in contact with these friends forever. But life goes on in an unpredictable way, so we often lose touch. In my case, I reconnect with high school friend many decades later when Facebook is invented. Everyone reaches out like we're old buddies. But we've lived these vastly different lives & we have nothing in common anymore. Your writing is always thought-provoking! (((HUGS)))

I found this very relatable Kathy. I had one such friendship that had lasted years. I thought it would stand the test of time. Two peas in a pod, or so I though. But there you go! You win some you loose some.Better to make pictures out of those cracks and move on.
Enjoyed the read. Take care.
Pauline.

Thanks Kathy, this takes me back to my young loves, there is nothing sweeter in memory, if you retain the happy moments and lose the not-so-happy. The latter I am still working on, with moderate success :)
... And now, I am required, by the Adult-Big-Yawn handbook, to reassure you that will have many young loves still to come :)
I love your use of your cracked ceiling in this wonderfully written piece :)

A sad yet honest assessment of friendship. I have had a few I thought where our friendships would never end and last forever, but that's not always the case for most unfortunately. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful poem with us.
