Some people come into our lives Unexpectedly, Like a sun-shower; Dropping in on our tides, Sprawling rainbows across our skies.
Your venerable heart was kind To my tender, unversed Absurdity; And instead of an unsound mind You saw a heart inclined To love, To be loved, To Be Love.
Some people come into our lives But they've always been there, Like space-time; When you cover all the clocks You're still you, here and now.
Some words can't define What is and has always been, Like essence; The last page of the dictionary Is where I find you, dear friend.
A rather intelligent and sincere eulogy. I'd like to say 'charming' but I fear that tends to be misinterpreted and underestimated nowadays, like something which is far too easy to say -- but at least you know that I mean it. As a dedication to a friend, this poem has more feeling than most of its kind because clearly real thought and feeling has been employed in order to write it: "To Be Love".
