They

They

A Poem by Wallflower
"

autonomy isn't automatic.

"
When i break the surface
And i catch a full breath,
I remember that that they are there.
My lungs,
Holding onto the air,
Treading watered down despair.

When i break the surface
And the silence,
I remember that they can hear.
My ears,
Listening to a beat
That hardly sounds like defeat.

When i break the surface
And the blur subsides,
I remember that they are there.
My eyes,
Seeing the sea i was drowning in
Are the very tears that they have cried.

When i break the surface
And its just me again
I remember that they aren't 'they'.
They have been Me all along,
and We are here to stay.
