What Reason Weaves, By Passion Is UndoneA Poem by Wallflowerinspired by the title which is a quote said by Alexander Pope. What if reason weaves for you By interlaced threads of two, A solitary cloth of truth That leaves one end exposed. A solitary cloth of truth That covers end to end, Lest a hand ache to break What was only meant to bend A solitary cloth of truth Whose threads, although may fray, Always align proportionally, Lest scales of measurement decay. What if reason weaves for you, By interlaced threads of two. An imbalance in the solitude That is itself, comparison composed. What if reason weaves for you A solitary cloth of Truth That fingerprints always refuse. Fingerprints that will point to The thieving hand that tipped the scales. Truths that find reason in frequencies" The cons outweigh the pros. Found frequently to feign the feeling Of more frequent highs than lows. Truths that find reason in deficits" The loss surmounts the gain. Where we find the truth of Joy Defined by the harder hits of pain. And Reason has always lay with Hope, That we will one day draw blood from a stone. When passions of pain long to meet their match And so they persevere through the alone. When reason weaves the unreasonable Based on the premise of pain It takes the passions of pleasure and freedom To restore its rightful name. For when reason weaves without threads of hope That string us wearily along, We can see the cloth of truth Uncover reason’s wrong, © 2010 WallflowerReviews
