Sedatatives for the TruthA Poem by Wallflower
They make you sorry that you feel,
That your heart can skip a beat, Caught up in these ideals That emotion means defeat. Suppress them way beneath! Don't let them make it through! Their shallow unfelt feelings Aren't intense enough for you... This social normality has you question your sanity As you attempt to articulate the energy inside. And now this causality hallucinates vanity And you temporarily invent your own pride, And your arbitrarily addicted to a lie, And your reality is what you despise. You mask your deviance from yourself By dividing your own mind, Arguing logic--not logistics is what keeps your heart so blind. And this illusion of reality has been doing you just fine, Don't cry, don't hurt, don't linger--but baby you can't shine. Conform to your surroundings, Assimilate it all. Don't ever try to stray and jump, That way you'll never fall. So now you've got the truth sedated And you're not the only fool around. You think this keeps you in control But what's the music without the sound? What's the root without the ground? How do you grow And how can you expand When the soil you're using Is no more than sand. This is an interestingly duality When you re-create reality if you feel you must escape your own. Feign those raw sensations Through mastered adaptations, But you may just lose your way back home. © 2010 Wallflower |
