Chapter 5A Chapter by KathrineChapter 5
“So how did you get past my security?” Kate asked and sat into her chair. She wanted to open the window blinds, but she was afraid that something might rip of Macs cloak so he would be in a grate danger. The last thing she wanted was lose her best friend. Kate needed Mac as much as she needed the air to breath.
“Well I have my ways to sneak into a impossible places!” Mac grinned and Kate felt a warm hand on her cheek.
“I thought my room is very safe?” She brushed over the invisible hand.
“Well it is,” Mac said. “I am just too clever!”
“Stop flattering yourself!” Kate hissed. “First you are not supposed be here and second you make me scared now.”
“Why is that?”
“Well if you can get into my room then what stops others to get in?”
“Trust me they WONT get in!” Mac assured Kate.
“What are you doing here anyway?” Kate scrolled. Mac was way too close to her and even if she couldn’t see him, Kate knew he was there just in front of her.
“I am sorry, but you said you needed a hug, so I am here to give you one.” Macs voice was full of sadness.
Kate felt coldness in her stomach. There was the awkward she had worried about. Why was Mac sad in first place? Kate didn’t know the right reason and it bugged her a lot.
“So how did you actually get into my room?” She asked with a hope she will get distracted.
“Well I used the programme I wrote years ago what makes me disappear for a few seconds from every system I am in. That’s how I managed to get past your security net.” Mac explained. His voice was at the other side of her room now and Kate knew he had walked away from her for a reason.
“What will stop someone else doing the same and rape me while I am asleep?” Kate asked with a serious voice. If Mac knew how to get past her computer then there was a risk that someone else was going to do the same.
“Well I have kind of send you computer a programme to avoid it again so even I am not able to get back in or out of your room.” he grinned. ”So I am stuck here until you let me out.”
“And if I don’t?” Kate asked.
“Well I don’t mind to stay and watch you all day,” Mac chuckled. “Al tough I might need to guard my ship as someone might accidentally fly into it and I would be destroyed.”
“Not destroyed, but coma-dosed for a twelve hours,” Kate replied. “Has your computer told you what happens when you get shoot down?”
“I haven’t asked really,” Macs voice appeared closer. “Sounds like its something I need to know.”
“Yes you should.”
“Well you can tell me all about it just after you do me a favour and stand up for a minute then!”
“What you mean?” Kate felt puzzled, but rose from the chair.
She jumped when invisible hands crabbed her by the waist and made sit back to the chair. However now she was sitting in Macs lap instead.
“That’s better,” he laugh. “So tell me about what happens when we get destroyed!”
Kate felt uncomfortable in Macs lap, but she decided not to complain this time. He had put himself into a grate danger already and she was sure sitting like this was nothing to worry about. Besides Mac was her best friend and she loved him in a wired friendly way.
“Just make sure you sit still and don’t jump much or I will explode,” Mac laugh. “I had way too big dinner just before I got here.”
“Then you should control your actions,” Kate hissed. “When did you become a chair anyway?”
“Just few seconds ago as I am so tired and I need to sit down!”
“And why do I have to sit with you?”
“Because I like to be awkward sometimes,” he said. “There is nothing you need to worry.”
“I never worry,” Kate smiled.
“Don’t you really?”
Kate imagined Mac rolling his eyes.
“No, not really,” she continued. “I panic.”
“That sounds a lot better!” he laugh. “But can you please stop panicking now and ask your computer to tell me what happens when we go POP!”
“Sure!” she grinned. “Kyle?”
“Yes, Blue?” the computer sounded over the room.
“Can Mac hear you?”
“Yes if you want him to hear me. I can connect to the main speakers and everyone in this room can hear me.”
“Please do that and then explain Mac and me what will happen when our ships get blew up!”
“As you wish, Blue!”
Kate looked around. She couldn’t see any speakers around the room, but as she stared the edge of her room by the door, there was a small black tot.
“When you get destroyed by other player you wont die, you teleport yourself when your ship gets shot down and you get closed into a capsule stored in your ship. It flies you back to the coordinates you have chosen or if you have no other destination you will be escorted to your home base. Your body will be in coma for twelve hours.”
“So we will just be in the coma for twelve hours?” Mac asked behind Kate.
“Yes that’s correct, sir!” Kyle said. “Al tough I am familiar with a information what makes me worried a little.”
“And the reason are?” Kate scowled.
“Some people in the close past have experienced some memories loss after they wake up from coma.”
“I think its a good thing,” Mac said.” Its better not remember how I get shoot down!”
“You might lose some very important memories, sir!”
Kate felt Macs hands around her tighten. She felt his breath on her neck. There was something what she was not ready for. She was sure Mac had no interest of being more than friend, but his closeness made her panic. Kate had never had a close contact with male before and the weirdness in it made her get scared.
“Mac!” she hissed. “You gotta know I have a very good right hit!”
“Why do you want to hit me?”
“Because you are walking over my line!”
“Line?”
Kate felt how her muscles tense.
“My personal line,” she hissed and jumped up. If she could have seen Mac, she would have broken his nose.
“Sorry,” Mac whispered. “I didn’t meant to upset you. I got carried away with a cuddle I came to give you. You really are overreacting a lot.”
“And you are making a silly jokes,” she gave back. “I should...”
“Blue!” Kyles voice appeared in her head, cutting her thought off.
“Yes?”
“I have picked up a call from Deadly and he is on his way here!”
“S**t!” Kate whispered. “MAC?” she shouted out.
“What’s up?” his voice game just from behind her.
“You gotta go!” she stressed. “NOW!”
Kate knew she couldn’t face Deadly when Mac was there. She cared too much for Mac to put him into a danger of getting discovered by one of the strongest players in VRU. Al tough there was no way he would have dies, Deadly could have made him feel pain what he had not deserved.
“Calm down,” Mac crabbed around her. “Do you want to get rid of me?”
“No, but there is a reason you have to leave,” Kate tried to explain. “Deadly is on his way here!”
“Your boy-friend to be?” Mac squeezed her harder.
Kate pushed him away. She heard a smile. Mac was definitely going to be hard to convince.
“Stop calling him like that,” she hissed. “Me and him are complete opposites.”
“But you still like him. And he likes you.” Mac carried on. “You both like each other, but you cannot admit it!”
“And you will be dead if you don’t leave before he gets here.” Kate walked towards her door. “Just sneak out and I will meet you somewhere where I can actually see you!”
“Why are you stressing about such a small thing?” Mac laugh. “He might not be able to pick up that I am here if I will be very quiet.”
“That is not going to happen, Mac!” Blue opened the door. “Get out! NOW!”
“And I risked my life to come and give you a cuddle!” Mac whispered near Kate’s ear. “You gotta make it out to me!” His lips brushed gently over her right cheek.
“Mac!” Kate hissed.
“See you later!” he smiled.
“Keep safe!” Kate said quietly and closed the door.
She didn’t know how was she face Deadly. Yes, he had defended her earlier, but that didn’t make up the fact that he was Simon. She shoot the door and fell in her bed. Minutes seemed like hours.
“Blue?”
“Yes Kyle?”
“I am afraid someone just picked up Macs signal and he has the whole VRU elite after him!”
Kate wanted to run after Mac. The urge to safe her best friend burned her inside.
“Kyle connect me to Mac!” she commanded.
“I am afraid I cannot do it now as his computer signal is down!” Kyle announced. “He is been cut of from the net until he reaches his base.”
“Who is after him?”
“Capitan Maximums and his crew! They rushed out just a few seconds ago. Mac managed to get a small head start, but he might not be fast enough.”
She felt coldness in her stomach. If Mac was going to be destroyed he might have had lost all of his memories- including her. She couldn’t take a risk now.
“Get my ship ready!” she ordered.
“What are you planning to do, Blue?”
“Mac came to me to comfort me and I cant let him get put into a come for that,” Kate explained. “I owe him for that!”
Kate run out of her department, flying past other players who were on their way to main department. Nobody seemed to rush.
“BLUE!!” Destroyer.
The sound of her clan mate rip into her ears. The voice was weak and low.
“Destroyer!” Blue.
“I hope you will find a way out of the game!” Destroyer.
Kate’s stomach filled with fear. What was Destroyer on about.?His voice sounded like he was giving up on life.
“Where are you Destroyer?” Blue.
“It doesn’t matter, just take care!” Destroyer.
Kate ran faster. There was something wrong with her clan mate ans she couldn’t let him down. Al tough now she felt in-between two choices- to go and help Mac or find out what is wrong with Destroyer. What was she going to do? She couldn’t been in a both places at the same time.
“Blue?” Kyle connected to her mind. “I have picked up a signal from Mac.”
“CONNECT US!” she shouted out trough heavy breathing.
“BLUE!” Mac.
“Mac are you al right?” Blue.
“Yes, but I nearly got popped by an angry VRU.” Mac.
“So I assume you are safe now?” Blue.
“I am too awesome to get killed.” Mac.
Kate wanted to laugh, but the speed she ran down to her ship made it nearly impossible. Now, when he knew that Mac was safe, she needed to get to Destroyer. Regardless how hard the fight was going to be- if there even was one- she was going to go in with all of her strength.
She ran as fast as she could have, driven by the rage and fear to loose one of her team mates.
“BLUE!”
Kate didn’t notice Deadly when she speed past him. She didn’t care anyway. There was no reason for her to stop and wait for him. Destroyer was way more important to her.
With a cold fear making her speed up even more, she reached her ship, not noticing that Deadly was just after her.
“STOP!” he shouted, but Kate jumped into the narrow corridor.
Her ship was ready to use and Kate pulled out from the base.
“DESTROYER!” she shouted.
There was no answer.
“Kyle, can you find me where he is?” she panicked, pushing her foot flat down on the speed pedal.
“I will do my best!”
“Just jump me there if you find out!” she ordered.
“I cannot assure you will land near him if I do so!” Kyle said.
“Just do it!”
“As you wish!” Kyle answered back with a humanly voice. “Deadly is trying to connect to you!”
“What does he want?” Kate felt angry. Why was he always after her?
“I connect you in 3...2...1..”
“Blue where are you?” Deadly.
“This is none of your business!” Blue.
“I know, but I cannot let you die!” Deadly.
“Why do you care?” Blue.
“Just tell me where are you?” Deadly. His voice was commanding and Kate felt an urge to disconnect, but she knew he could have helped her to save Destroyer.
“I am on my way to save Destroyer. He is in a trouble and Kyle is trying to find out what map he is on.” Kate.
“Blue, he is on MMO 2 map,” Kyles voice cut trough Deadly s voice.
“Take me there.” Kate ordered. “NOW!”
“As you order!” Kyle. “Just make sure you keep your eyes closed!”
Kate did as told and felt a sudden lift trough air. She wanted to open her eyes, but decided to obey Kyles orders.
“Blue!” Kyles voice was a whisper and Kate opened her eyes. She saw fire. There was two ships shooting Destroyer, but he was still standing as brave.
“Connect me to Destroyer right now!” she hissed and targeted one of the ships. “He will need to fly away alive!”
“Connecting in 3...2...1!”
“Blue you need to leave now!” Destroyer.
“NO, YOU NEED TO LEAVE NOW!” Blue.
Kate shouted as loud as she could have. One of the enemies turned to attack her back. With a rage she turned on her stronger rockets and shield absorbing ammo.
“What are you doing?” Destroyer.
“I am trying to save your a*s!” Blue.
“I am nearly dead.” Destroyer.
“Its about the time you leave!” Blue.
She felt her ship rocking under the enemy hits. If she was not going to jump trough the gate soon, she was going to die as well.
“But, Blue...” Destroyer.
His voice sounded weak, but still full of argument.
“FLY HOME NOW! ITS AN ORDER!” Blue.
Kate hoped Destroyer was going to obey her orders. She was the head of the clan after all. With a quick move she fired out a few strongest rockets she had and for her happiness the enemy ship blew up in front of her eyes. With a long sigh she got ready to target the other enemy, but familiar ship flew past her, shooting down the second ship.
She jumped trough the gate and found Destroyer waiting in the other side. She breathed with relief.
“Destroyer?” Blue.
“Yes.” Destroyer.
“Are you all right?” Blue.
“Well I am still breathing.” Destroyer.
His voice sounded tired and battered, but Kate was happy he was still alive.
“Jump back to home and get some rest.” Blue.
“As you say.” Destroyer.
“You have been a very brave, but you gotta learn to ask help!” Blue.
“I will try. Thanks for saving my life.” Destroyer.
“You welcome.” Blue.
She saw his ship disappear and another appearing next to her. Now she was sitting in a middle of Mac and Deadly. What a luck.
“MAC???” Blue.
“Blue???” Mac.
“Are you playing a hero?” Blue.
“Not really, but Deadly connected to me just after you had jumped from the VRU to MMO and as I was closer to you, he asked me to help!” Mac.
“When did you two become friends?” Blue.
“Well you have to know that you have got more people covering your back than you think!” Mac.
She heard him laughing.
“I have always wanted to build an army, but I didn’t know its so easy!” Blue.
“Well you will always have at least one member to go to war with you!” Mac.
Kate smiled. She had never felt better. Al tough she felt pity for the enemy she had destroyed, she was happy there was no harm done to her space family.
“Mac, I have to go now and face the death!” Blue.
“Good luck!” Mac. With a second his fancy ship disappeared.
“Connect me to Deadly!”
“Connecting in 3...2...1”
“Blue?” Deadly.
“You and me have to talk right now!” Blue.
