He told me

He told me

A Poem by Katho28
"

Love is never as it seems...

"
He told me
With that strange glint in his eyes
That I was the star
That I lit the one light
Within the darkness
Of his pain.

He told me
With that slight twitch of his lips
That I had the power
To untangle his smile
From the twisted branches
Of his past.

He told me
With that gentle blush on his cheeks
That I could trigger
A fluttering feeling
Deep down in the centre
Of his heart.

But,
The signs were an illusion:
That strange glint was of danger,
That slight twitch was of mockery
That gentle blush was of embarrassment
To be seen with me.

He told me
With the stiff smile plastered on his face
That signs were deceiving,
That love was fleeting,
That dreams were not
Reality.

And I thank him for that,
Because now I know
That patience is the key
To true love,
And that nothing is ever
As it seems.

The first rays of light
Beam across
the room.
I give a smile with my eyes,
And think:
It's a new day today.

Green Day can say it better than me, Boulevard of Broke Dreams. Same reflection.

Beautifully written again. I like the imagery you use in this one representing what seemed to be love and ended with deceit. Nicely penned.
