One Last Tequila...

One Last Tequila...

A Poem by Kat Mandu
"

This is the final of the three-part poem, Tequila. I think this sums up how I feel now, and it flowed so naturally as I wrote it it was unbelievable.

"

Inhale.

I close my eyes.

I feel my heartbeat,

The sound of my own two feet,

The scent of blood so sweet.

Blood, my own,

Touching yours, and I am home.

But now alone.

My heart hurts with such intensity,

I want to tear it out.

I want to shout,

Gnash and gnaw

Fly and soar,

When I am beside you.

Now I weep.

Now I sleep.

Life inside a heart that's hollow,

A bitter pill so hard to swallow.

I choke.

Those who live dodging coffins,

Lie, cry and die like real men.

In the end no one wins,

We all fall away,

With nothing left to say,

I tear at my chest and pull at my heart.

Tears flow, never ending.

A trail of water, so wet, drowning.

Save me from the dark, send me home.

Oh please send me home.

I open my eyes.

Exhale.
