The Story of Someone's LifeA Poem by Kat Mandu
Lying in a box of plastic,
Life so fantastic. Crawling, walking, falling, talking. You go to school, Learn and break every rule. As you grow you cry and change, Your body enlarged, altered so strange. And older still, you break and bleed, Voices crack and burning seed. Aim high, fall faster, Get wasted, pain's your master. Get past all this education, Into a world with no vacation. Find a handsome girl or guy, Get married, watch your mother cry, Sooner silent as your father dies. Unprotected fornication, Adding to the population. Aging more, you get divorced, Your midlife crisis being forced, Upon you. Now you're unemployed, Lie down, listen to Pink Floyd. Your bed is empty, Something's missing. You've forgotten the warmth of loving and kissing. Falling apart, broken heart, Taken to pieces, back to the start. Remarry; have a few more kids, Watch them grow and go, Following your path. You laugh, As they take you away to die. A few years on, you sit and rot, Then die and burn. Ashes scattered far from home, On a hilltop, all alone. People wear black and weep, And you slip into everlasting sleep.
