Into the cave

Into the cave

A Poem by Kat Mandu

Into the cave
Tell me friends where were you?
When I try to refer to
The memories of these few years,
You stood and watched me cry the tears
Black like tar,
Red like blood.
Lilies on their coffins smelt so sweet
Rose petals in the bedroom lay like clouds beneath my feet,
And to the magic I retreat,
Unable to resist
The darkness that's within me,
The power in my fist,
The heart that's black inside me,
And the voices in the mist.
Voices in the shadows,
The sounds within the wind.
Hear each one, they''re calling out,
Sense the pain they''re in.
Like in a dream,
I always die last,
This self-destruction came so fast
Life's never as it seems.
And now you're here,
You followed me,
To the heart of the mountain,
Over black and burning seas.
