A Practiced FacadeA Poem by Silver_water_dragon8-3-12Let's keep up this pretense... so much experience at it Tolerance is pushed to the very limits Don't let anyone glimpse behind the facade It's always been like this... so much wasted effort to fix it ---- We've fallen away from what love means There is nothing left here in this place Hurtful words from your lips constantly is too much to stand anymore Acceptance of this truth is difficult... But this is how life has dealt your cards ---- After all the brokenness, this can no longer be held together A quiet tongue will not fix the damage done All she wanted was love and understanding Too bad you could not see Your eyes missed so much... ---- So let's keep up this pretense like always Twist her with your words and make her go where you want her to Resentment burns red hot deep inside Bitterness is a sour taste in the back of the throat She has become a master at patience... ---- We've fallen away from what love means Weight of stress, anger, and blame is some of what she carries around Look away from it like always, put on a smile that does not fit at all Sadness hovers like a dark morning mist ---- She was never wanted to begin with Rejection is a nasty cycle Things should have been so different Regret will hit you when she leaves Even though your wish is that regret cling to her forever It's all out of control ---- Let's break her down more... is there enjoyment from her pain? Throw guilt on her and watch the effects Your lips forbid uplifting words to her spirit One day she won't believe all the lies you have fed her with for so long Maybe you will be happier when she finally walks away... © 2014 Silver_water_dragon |
