To The Rescue

A Chapter by Katheryn10

Anna

The moment Joel came back down the stairs, I was ready to kick some a*s.

"Joel, everything done?" A nod was my reply.

"Great so..." Isabella was talking to Travis quietly. Although I didn't really see why since we could hear them perfectly clear. Travis obviously didn't see why she was bothering to even talk to him never mind keeping the volume down.

"I'll make sure you get your cut." she said.

Travis tossed to the side and then moaned in pain from the stake.

"Man, I'm surprised he's held up this long" I commented to Joel.

He shrugged.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing. Can we just go already? It's late." The three of us headed for the front door carrying a backpack and each of us had a tool belt with stakes.

"Wait! How are we going to get where-ever we're going?" Sophie called out behind us.

"That's a point." I looked at Isabella who was currently dialling a number.

She smiled.

"Taxi anyone?"

I nodded, "Ah okay. As if we don't use taxis around here anyway." Joel laughed nervously.

"Oh and Sophie?" She stepped up to me, smiling eagerly.

"You know you're not coming, right?"

"Well now, that's not really up to you anymore, is it?" She grinned. "I think that ship sailed, hmm, let me think. This morning." My shoulders sagged in disappointment.

"Oh come on! For gods sake Anna, you're not wonder woman. How hard can these guys be?"

Isabella snickered. I rolled my eyes, "Isabella, on our side, please?" She sighed.

"Well okay, but only because Joel is mine." He smiled a little at that remark. I felt like I was going to throw up.

"Sophie, you can tag along. But don't you dare think about leaving our side." Joel pointed out. I looked at him surprised by his sudden outburst. Usually it was me who made decisions.

A car pulled up in five minutes, which surprised all of us since it usually took well over ten minutes for anything to get to us.

We piled into the cab and since Isabella went in the front seat, she gave directions to the driver.

"I don't know why we couldn't have just ran here." Joel moaned.

"Err maybe because we have a human with us who doesn't have the speed ability we do." I commented as the taxi drove away and we stared out into the pitch black.

"So..."

We stared at Isabella who looked back at us like we were in charge.

"Well... a direction would be nice?" I said, gritting my teeth in aggravation.

We'd been dropped off outside of a huge forest.

"Where are we?" Sophie said quietly.

"Near the Frilford Golf Club. They've changed it around so that humans can't just fall upon it anytime." Isabella pointed north east. "The cabin is over there."

We looked to where she pointed but couldn't spot anything. We moved in that direction, dodging falling trees and avoiding logs and rough leaves. When we were within thirty feet Isabella gave a sigh which showed that we must be near. The cabin was so small I couldn't really call it a cabin. More a shed. It was a miracle that it could fit anymore than one person in.

Joel snickered, "That thing?" Isabella turned and shhed him.

"Okay, okay, sorry." he mimed zipping his lips shut.

"So we're just going to walk right in there without so much as a plan? 'oh hi there, we've come to collect our dad. Yeah don't mind us'" said Joel sarcastically.

We hid behind a tree around ten feet from the cabin. We could see light coming from the tiny windows, rather like portholes.

"No, of course not." I looked to Isabella for help. "We're not, right?"

She didn't seem to be paying attention, but looking around for something.

I nudged her.

"You wait here. I'm gonna go in and distract them. If I'm not out in a few minutes, you can do what you like."

i looked between Joel and Sophie for inspiration.

"You up for that?" I cringed slightly but seriously, what else could we possibly do? We didn't go out there for nothing.

They both nodded. Sophie was the only one enthusiastic about it though. Probably because she didn't have anything to lose. Well, besides her life.

Isabella was off walking to the cabin that was about 6foot high and four foot wide and possible three men deep. It was hard to tell in this light.

"So Sophie, are you sure you want to go through with this?"

"Course I am."

I sighed.
