My First Day in Paris

My First Day in Paris

A Poem by Kate's Travel Stories

It was a warm, sunny day of August 2009.
I walked up the the steps out of the Metro station. When I lifted my head up, the Seine was in front of me and as I moved my head to the right,
there it was,
in all it's beauty: La Tour Eiffel.
I had dreamt about seeing it for a long time and
there it was- as if all those dreams had finally fallen into place.
Simple,
yet pure happiness for my eleven year old self.

Kate's Travel Stories
"Paris is always a good idea"
This is my first piece of writing I am posting. I wasn't sure whether to call it a poem or a story. I chose poem as I thought it fit better as one. I feel you can read it as either. I have many more stories just like this but I had to post about Paris first. It's my favourite city on Earth. Paris always.

Inspired by: Joni Mitchell
"I was a free man in Paris
I felt unfettered and alive
There was nobody calling me up for favors
And no one's future to decide".
