He Is No Longer ThereA Poem by Kate RutaA Poem for classHe Is No Longer There
The wheat colored walls that have faded through the years. The soft chocolate leather couch that has a sunken indent from where he sat. The man who sat their never saying anything, watching is MASH TV show.
The sunken white face the pale skin That once had life, but no longer. The man that sat their said nothing but Wanting to speak of all his stories. To yell out I AM HERE!!!
This man was once a star a bright star that flew a thousand miles now stalled and frozen in time.
I saw him once. He glowed like the sun. Wanting to touch him one last time. To smell that light dab of cologne he once wore. That once lovely smells now a smell like a babies diaper that needs to be changed. He was once a tall energetic man, now he is not but I want him back.
He is no longer there. No longer to eat his pancakes. No longer hear him talk about his stories. No longer standing on his toes to dance around the living room. He is no longer there to dance with. © 2014 Kate RutaAuthor's Note
