Homeland

Homeland

A Poem by Kate Ruta

My home, my land of beauty.

The songs and dance you have created.

The past of light and darkness.

You have managed to shine,

Maybe not to the world,

But to me you have shined.

The hundreds of years you have been around.

Different names you go by.

But to me you are my home, my homeland.

The beauty you give.

The thousand of rivers that go through you.

The open sky’s to look at as I travel.

Homeland, my how you have changed.

How you have stayed strong.

Even the wars you fight,

The battles you won.

The battles you lost, with blood shed.

You are my homeland.

Though I might have not been there for a long time.

I might have left, even when I did not want to.

I will love you and remember you,

For the little I know.

All I have are pictures and stories.

But don’t you worry,

I will come back to you someday.

My life, my homeland, I am nothing without you.

I will come back, don’t you worry.

A classic, emotional piece that outstands even beauty. ;)

This was a wonderful flow of emotional and thoughtfilled ink. I imagined these were the words of some space faring person, leaving their planet for the first time, heading outwards and looking back at the round orb they have always called home. The words are very pulling. They lead a person to muse about what's important to them and the memories attached.

Great Ink! Much Enjoyed.
