Ode to the Bad Boys

Ode to the Bad Boys

A Poem by Kathryn
"

Guys gotcha down? Don't bother getting back up until they are men...

"

Step right up and hear the rant

Of a nice girl with a very broken heart.

She's a bit under the weather,

A bit under the covers,

Trying to muffle the sounds of her sobbing.

Was it something I did?

Was it something I said? asks the nice boy

That sits one row over and one seat up.

No, no it wasn't you, just the other

Six and two half jerks that thought of me

Only from the lips down.

I really don't understand.

I can't quite comprehend the minds of these

Bad boys.

Is there some sign on my back that reads

Kiss me, I'm the town w***e?

Be candid, be frank, be brutally honest as you say

I want you for all the wrong reasons

Well, really I only want your body just for tonight.

You all seemed like a good idea at the time

Because your smiles are toxic, your lips enslaving;

Your talk and walk are tantalizing and we all know

Your charm and charisma seal the deal.

A little something that I've learned is that

No matter how hard I try

Your lips and hearts are not connected.

I can kiss you harder, kiss you deeper, kiss you more,

But there is no contract that says if I love you enough

You'll love me back.

But please, please won't somebody love me?

Even if just for one night.

A piece written seemingly in anger - I mean, it sounds like the real thing, which is more than I'd say for the bad boys. Powerful writing which hits home and showing cclearly the borders between lust and love, sex and feeling; Oh well - - - Some enchanted evening, she may see a stranger - - there's always hope. Good, blunt, no nonsense writing.
