Iridescent EyesA Poem by Kate Henderson
I was climbing up a tree,
And I saw in front of me, A butterfly wing That made the birds sing I reached out to touch it, But couldn't quite reach it, So I jumped out to grab it, And in my hand I crushed it I fell to the ground, With a resounding thudding sound, And when I landed in the mote, The wing was shoved down my throat I swallowed hard and it slid right down Because of the taste I began to frown Then I started to float in the sky And I saw in my reflection I had an Iridescent Eye
