Worshiping the moonlight

Worshiping the moonlight

A Poem by Kate AKS
"

It could be read as science fiction poetry or it could be read as a documentary, the choice is yours.

"

Worshiping the moonlight,

The only light we have since

Sun is dead for us. We live in

Darkness and still name it

Day to live in the night and

Be glad that the moon is still for us.

The one who asked, why we have

Moonlight if there are no more

Sun, is gone to search for this answer.

Your words are everything about the space, the glorious moon above us - our thinking, our imagination. Your mind works smoothly and gently - then: that final line.. a question we might never understand, never have answered. Sometimes that's how life, the world, the everything bars us from.. maybe for good reason.

I do not know which version I would rather it be. It’s fascinating either way, so a part of me wants to make it both a documentary and a science fiction world. Or maybe, a post apocalyptic documentary. The disappearance of the sun would certainly qualify as an apocalyptic event I would think. Despite that, there’s also a sense of magic in this. Maybe not the sorcery casting of spells type of magic, but the magic of special moments? I don’t know if that makes sense. Which I guess could be because the moon still inexplicably gives light.
Anyways, I wish whoever set off to find the answer the best of luck, maybe when they discover it they’ll share.
I think my favorite part was probably “… We live in/ Darkness but still call it/ Day to live in the night”. Something about that line is just so beautiful and I hear in on repeat in my mind.

It could as well be an inner light that is perceived as moon light for moon light feels more comforting than the radiance from a glowing sun. Nicely done.
