Toxic Relationships

Toxic Relationships

A Poem by Katarina

Tangled in our youth

Not the one that hollywood exploits

The younger youth

The not-yet-our-fault youth

The reasons we find ourselves

Drawn to the arms of certain strangers

Reincarnations of the same love

You can’t consciously cop to

Forever the victim to your loops

Lessons leave lies on your lips

Will you ever stop

Not sure

Can't fix a problem you wont admit exists

We’re all addicts to something

My favourite are the ones you can't live without

Food

And love.

Starved for belonging

Lost on your lonesome

You sure know how to work

"Lost on your lonesome" damn it....I wish I had written that, Katarina.
I think love of friends whom we make family is something I would not and could not live without.
Yes, we are all addicts to something...and I wonder why it is so hard for some to admit that.
This is quite a good, thoughtful piece...
and I am most likely a Victim to my Loops.
at my age.

"Reincarnations of the same love." A very apt metaphor for the ongoing bad relationships some people fall into. It can indeed be likened to an addiction, especially if the addict is in denial.
