The snow fell lightly on the forest floor as a girl with blood red hair and silver eyes walked through the now white trees. Her laced wedged boots crunched silently as she walked along the invisible path to her house which had disappeared somewhere beneath the snow. Her name was Kat Lake, she was a junior in high school and worked at a small cafe in town. She sighed and watched her white breathe fade as a strong gust of wind blew her thigh-length hair all over the place. She kept walking as the wind blew her towards her black mansion that her father had invested in for them since she was 2. Leon was out of town a lot but always called and came home whenever he could to see his daughter. But Kat didn't mind that he was gone a lot, it bugged her every now and then but it never really got to her. She liked the alone time she had to herself.
Kat closed her eyes as listened to the clicking sound of her key in the key hole of the front french doors. She opened one of them and slammed it shut before a cold gust of wind could swing it back open. She then locked it and walked off up the staircase and off into the dark corridor of her room where she collapsed on her bed and kicked off her boots and buried her face in the black silk sheets warm from the heat that radiated throughout the entire mansion. The touch of warmth to her cheek made Kat somewhat tired and made her want to close her eyes. "N..o.." She muttered as she sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. Kat knew how comforting and welcoming her bed could be but also knew she had a ton of English homework that had to get done over the weekend. It was a 10 page essay on the Greek Gods, One of Kat's favorite subjects then only bad thing was that it had to be so long. She sighed and pulled back the red strands of hair that floated in her face and made her way over to her computer desk to start the irritating essay.
2:00 AM, Were the numbers that flashed on Kat's alarm clock before she ripped the cord out of the electric socket to turn off the bright blue light. The power had gone out just after she had gone to bed but luckily, Kat had printed her essay out right after she was done and without hesitation slipped it into her book bag for Monday. It was Saturday morning and way too early for her to be up, the power was back on but the heat didn't come on since Kat was wrapped up in 3 thick blankets and was freezing her a*s off! She reluctantly climbed out of her stone cold bed and walked out into the corridor and turned the heat back on. She heard the roar of the heater defrosting itself from the snowy night that was slowly passing and the warmth coming from the nearby air vents. It was enjoyable until Kat realized that all of the other lights on the 2nd floor were off. That's odd.. She thought to herself as she made her way to the staircase and saw the yellow light pouring from the open kitchen door downstairs. She slowly made her way down the carpeted steps and snuck over to the wall silently. Fear clenched Kat's gut and made her want to throw up but she knew she had to be silent, she could hear rustling in the kitchen fridge and closed her eyes tightly as she slipped around the wall and ran into the kitchen.
A tall figure with long midnight blue hair stood in the refrigerator, shoving gallons of milk and bottles of water out of the way. "Where is it!? Leon said he had some extra bottles in here somewhere!" He yelled exasperatedly. He hadn't even noticed Kat entering the kitchen and watching the pale man search her fridge, she hadn't made a sound because she was too busy admiring his beautiful features. His unusually colored hair (like her's) fell to about his shoulders and was tied in a ponytail that simply fell in the middle of his back, his shoulders were broad and strong as were his visibly muscular arms, he was about 2 inches taller then Kat and obviously stronger then her. Kat knew if she tried to hit him or if he grabbed her, then she wouldn't have a chance of getting away. He finally stood up, only to hit his head on the top of the fridge and yell out in pain which made Kat let out a small laugh. The man turned quickly and slammed the fridge door shut and glared down at Kat who stood on the other side of the kitchen, clenching the counter for dear life. She stared at his angry blue eyes that matched his hair, she tried to find something that seemed to be hidden in them but wasn't quite sure what she was looking for to begin with. "Who are you?" He growled, now he was only inches from Kat's face. How he had gotten that close to her in such short amount of time without her even blinking, she didn't know. "Who are you?!" He growled again, grabbing her shirt roughly and clenching it in his fist. Kat gasped, she was truly terrified now but she knew she couldn't let him know that. "I could ask you the same question." She countered, her voice shook a bit although she tried to hard to hide it. He smirked at her, his lips curled up at the corners a bit in a slight snicker. "I'm Blue Cross, my parents are best friend's with Leon Lake." Kat started to relax a bit. "Then if you knew anything then you'd know I'm his daughter." She said flatly. The smirk on his lips grew into a small grin. "Really now?" He asked as he moved closer to her and breathed heavily on her neck. Kat's eyes widened and her body froze as she felt chills shoot down her back and throughout her body. Blue smirked as he brushed his lips against her neck and grabbed her wrists so she couldn't hit him if she thought she could. "Hm.." Kat gasped as she felt a sharp pain in her neck and an ice cold feeling shot right through her, She tried to scream or call out but couldn't even bring herself to make a sound. Darkness started to surround her and it felt like Blue was drinking her blood. No..That's insane..Vampire's don't...exist..Right..? Were the last thoughts Kat had before she fell to the ground and darkness swept over her. Kat's breath and voice were gone. She couldn't cry, she couldn't scream. Finally the dark took her over and suffocated her in a deep dark slumber.
