Tortured Sorrow Born of Jealousy

Tortured Sorrow Born of Jealousy

A Poem by Kat Collins
"

“Cruelty has a human heart, And jealousy a human face Terror, the human form divine, And secrecy, the human dress” - William Blake

"

I’ve made my concessions.

I’ve given all that I can.

You ask for my soul,

Laid bare and exposed,

To your every whim.

Vultures are circling,

My death is impending.

Body is spread-eagled,

Lying prone on chiseled stone.

Leather restraints chaffing,

Peeling my skin raw.

My heart pumps sluggishly,

With every searing breath.

I shutter my eyes,

Against the misery.

Your cackling sends shivers,

Up and down my cracked spine.

I’ve made my concessions.

I’ve given all that I can.

You screech for my lifeblood,

Darkened black and putrid,

From your poison.

The cold seeps,

Into my bones.

Upon this unforgiving rock,

I cry out for mercy.

Your spiraling jealousy,

Knows no bounds.

Spitting and sputtering,

Spewing your filth forth.

I turn the other cheek,

Only to feel the burn.

I’ve made my concessions.

I’ve given all that I can.

How can I confess

When I’ve done

Nothing wrong?

I can feel the pain in every word of this write.. Being picked apart and discarded piece by piece is the worst experience.. I have experienced it and witnessed it to many times.. You know the simple truth and communication makes life so much easier...instead we live with jealousy and pain... excellent write.. xx

For a few seconds whilst I read this I was able to forget where I was and just soak in theraw passion and anger. The hurt you express is almost tangible and your writing is beyond powerful in its ability to affect this reader. Fantastic write!

there are many times in life that people don't want ot believe we haven't done something that they are sure we have. It is like moving mountains to get them to believe that we haven't many times there is no changing their minds. I love the creative way in which you bring this piece together.

So this is intense... I see a torture chamber. How morbid! I like how you keep repeating "I've made my concessions. / I've given all that I can." - almost as a protective mantra, to keep pain at bay. I think maybe a couple of your wordings are a little cliche - you should find some interesting and unique way of expressing it. But all in all I like your wording - very effective.

By the way, I also like the quote in your description. I helped transcribe a piece of music that had set the poem that those lines are from. It was very strange music; fit the poem well. Anyways, random observation.
