Alone

Alone

A Poem by Kat Collins
"

Darkest days and fake smiles, pretending....

"

Alone

Utterly alone

No one reaches out

No one cares

No one knows

Afraid to speak up

Afraid to let the fears be known

To myself as well as others

Hiding

Repressing

Don’t let them show

Don’t let them feel

Blinding

Confusion

Where am I going?
Where have I begun?
Where will I end?
Does it end?
Round and round it goes

Spinning

Weaving

Dizzy patterns

Too much feeling

Overwhelming

I think I’m gonna explode

Burst open

Let the dams break

The walls crumble

Pressure

Excruciating

Have to reinforce

Strengthen the formidable walls

Impassable

Cold

Secure

Held back once again

A painted smile

A nod, “I’m fine”

But for how long?
