Lost

Lost

A Poem by Kat Collins

lost

alone

unwanted

my soul bears the scars

my head hangs in shame

chest squeezes tight

i can barely breathe

questions, sighs, clenched fists

tears streaming

i don't understand my life

where i am

where i'm headed

or where i've been

i can't seem to get it all straight

silence beckons

it's taunting whisper

see?

no one hears

no one cares

no one listens

you're all alone

i fight the voices

the silent mocking cries

God don't leave me stranded

don't leave me in despair...lost in the dark dungeon

lights flicker like fireflies

pinpricks of hope fluttering just out of reach

grasping blindly

hoping

how do i find which way to go?

Kat,

I sense the feelings... and their realities. I read it aloud 3 times. Each time I shifted tonal stresses and pauses - without thinking.

Take care,
Chris
