Downpours

Downpours

A Poem by Kat Collins

love is pain personified

waiting with baited breath to steal me from my feet

i tumble and roll

losing ground

love gouges my eyes and tears out my heart

numbing agony screams

sadness weeping

all is taken -

love pours sunlight

warm rain

gentle balms to my wounded soul

the other side of the same

pain and joy

happy and sad

love my pain

love my joy

in its entirety.

It is interesting how often pain and joy be blent in the context of love. I even wrote a poem that said that. Apparently there's something to the idea! Ha... Anyways, I really like it. The juxtaposition of the two opposite yet complementary feelings. Love really is an amazing force, isn't it?
