Despite the winterA Poem by Kastor homes
In the coldest of Decembers,
as the fire dies and turns to embers, dark clouds mass, their influence grows, threatening the world below, winters army marches in, to rid the world of glorious colour, its banner white, against the night, ready to unleash its power. the trees surrender all their leaves, but stand defiant against the winds, they arc and moan with no relief, as the frosty onslaught begins. but somewhere under an old town spire, despite the invasion that doesn't tire, against winters armada and all it can throw, a delicate rose starts to grow, for in this town, besieged by cold where lanterns flicker, and ice holds the road, a youthful love starts to unfold, a roses petals uncoil, hands in gloves that lock together, parallel footprints in freshly fallen snow, in consort they deify the weather, a new love starts to glow. with the town behind them, they make their escape, to the nearby forest, to the old fire break, were winters dark blanket reveals all the stars, from the sky, thousands of eyes watch loves genises. its here, a place that is sacred, where a boy can confess to a girl, of how he thinks of her unending beauty, of how their love can bloom and unfurl. bashful and flattered she sends him a smile, and in that moment he knew all was worthwhile, for he was fearful, he wasn't her knight, a sigh of relief as things turned out all right. like that rose that triumphed the season, and stood against winters powerful force, their love could be trailed for treason, for it defies the natural course. like king and queen they can rule their realm, with all their joy, and laughter. for this is their winter fairy tale, winters happily ever after. © 2020 Kastor homesReviews
