The Coming Of Fall

A bitter cold freeze

Causes leaves to lose their trees

Drifting to the ground

Swaying steadily to a silent melody

Floating with the wind,

Being carried where it may

Noiselessly praying to be set down one day

In a place safe and sound

Where no feet trample the ground

So it may rest in peace

Silent against the cold, damp Earth

Waiting for temperatures to decrease

Dipping the world into a slumber

Coating it with dreams

Snow crystals, lights and other sparkly things.

Imagining the drum of thunder

And the burst of light,

Sending a shower of frozen rain

Down upon the world

For what seems like forever

And it will not drain.

Minutes turn into days

Days become weeks

All the while, for the leaf

Life is at its peak.

Frost-coated trees watch what

Leaves cannot see

Snowmen cover

White on white lawns

Seeming to always melt

Before the next dawn.

Laughter rings through frozen air

Balls of snow flying

Through frostbitten fingers.

Weeks turn to months

Bringing with it the warmth of Spring

Along with the

Promise of new life it brings.

For the leaf has become

Once again a part of the Earth

Only to grow to be one with its tree

The cycle of life

Completes a rotation

Recycling Earth’s beauty

Without a moment’s hesitation.

Pretty. I like what you did with the line "Causes leaves to lose their trees" which sort of makes the leaves seem like little entities of their own wandering away from home. I might consider rephrasing "and other sparkly things," it seems like you go from giving specific details to a sudden vagueness that doesn't really fit the rest of the poem. Also, be careful with singular/plural; you go from referring to "leaves" and then suddenly start saying "it" perhaps a line or two to help transition and show that you are now following one singular leaf instead of all the leaves in general would help. It's a good concept and you have some lovely imagery, just needs a bit of work on the transitions :)
