A Chapter by Nene

Winds, howled ferociously. Thunder, teared the sky. Lightning, sliced everything up. Heavy rain, drowned everything in sight. Nature was in a merciless mood.

No beast dared to step it's foot out. Yet, there, on a small balcony, stood a girl. A girl unaware of her surroundings. She had her arms wide open and eyes closed. It felt as if she was challenging the nature, to break her. To break her more than she already was.

Lightening, accepting the challenge, fell on a tree near her.

The loud sound made Aria jump. She looked around. Her senses could not perceive where she was. She stared as the tree, caught fire and then, died down as rain poured over it.

Aria looked up at the sky. All she could see was a thick, grey blanket of clouds. The moon was gone.

She turned around and saw Abigail banging on the glass door that led to the balcony. She stared at it for some time, before unlocking the door.

A pair of arms quickly pulled her in.

"Are you sane!?" Exclaimed a very tensed Abigail. "What were you thinking?"

"Why did he leave me?" Aria asked weakly. She was on verge of tears again.

Abigail was quite for sometime. She looked at her ghostly friend. She couldn't believe, that Aria was the same girl she grew up with. The Aria she knew was head strong and full of life.

This torn, shattered person in front of her was not her friend.

She sighed and made Aria change her clothes.

Aria didn't feel any better. Her memories haunted her. She loved them but she wanted to forget them. They tore her apart and pinched her like thorns.

"So are you coming to college tomorrow?" Abigail asked.

Aria looked at her for a minute and then shook her head. "No."

"Aria."

"Mm."

"Please come. For me?"

Aria kept Silent. It was a dreadful silent. "I'll try." She finally said.

"Great!" Abigail pulled Aria into a hug.

I'm so lucky to have her. She thought.

Abigail went home after an hour, leaving Aria alone with her miseries. She picked up Eric's photographs and stared at them.

You told me to forget about you. But how can I? When you're the only one I've love so much.

She went to bed, still clutching the photographs and soon fell asleep.

*****************************

The sky was clear. It showed no sign of yesterday's storm. But the Earth felt otherwise. There were water puddles, lamp posts, and branched of trees almost everywhere. Some of the trees were burnt to crisp while some lay lifeless on the ground.

Aria walk through it all silently. She felt part of the Earth's misery. It felt as if the shared the same feeling. Everything perfectly blended in with her mood.

Aria blinked at the big brown metal gate in front of her. Was she ready to face everything? Would she be okay when she saw him? She didn't know. She slowly stepped away. No, she wasn't. She took another step back before turning and running away from the college's gate.

She was not ready to face life just yet.
