Chapter 3 History

Chapter 3 History

A Chapter by Karla Mata Soto

Blaise finished her cereal and brushed her teeth hoping to climb back into bed for a little more sleep. Lucifer was fairly chatty for a demon. She thought demons were supposed to brood and be dark and silent. Lucifer came off more as bored and talkative.

"That's because you have a lot to train for before you can lead souls and guard them in the world of Gods." He stopped. She stared at the ceiling. How on earth did he know... "-What you were thinking? Guardians can do it too. They're just more subtle about it. I don't intend to be subtle. We can read your mind. We hear your voice the way you hear ours. No one around you can hear us except you. So you don't really need to speak to be heard."

She groaned. "Yes I am going to do this every time you think of stuff. I may be invisible but we are all we have now. No being is capable of helping you like I can. No being can help you be your Goddess self. Your demon is the key to all the understandings of all of the things in all of the universe. Within you is the door. Together we unlock the answers to all of the dimension's anomalies and paradoxes.

Did you know that if true love is destroyed within two partner's lifetimes their souls tear a fabric in the universe that causes chaos? We call those an anomaly in demon school. When I first ...." Lucifer's voice faded as she was lulled to sleep by his upbeat spirit.

She woke up in a strange bed. 'I must be back in heaven.' She thought sitting up in a spacious room. Lucifer was by her bedside. "When I first went on an anomoly case I was 200 years old. I was only a foot tall. A negative being had attached itself to a woman who had noone to pray to. Her soul had no food to feed on. She started to take it out on her son and ruined his chance to be with his soul mate time and time again. She was abusive towards him. The hole in the universe followed the woman around because she was the root of the anomaly. I killed her. I gave her a stroke and she died. Her son was bitter for two years. It took so much fighting to drive the couple towards each other again and to mend the broken love between them. There was so much negativity everywhere they went. It was in the home, it was everywhere the couple walked, it was bleeding out of the ground. It took a long time to calm and seduce the energy back into the tear to heal the darkness. The spiritual pressure was immense. But after a time the couple loved again and the fabric of the universe mended again. I keep her in a witch's cauldron. A little soul by the name of Karla Mata is in training to become a demon. She's about 45 right now in her recent reincarnation. The witch tortures the mother of the boy by turning on a fire under the  cauldron. Demons have trained her for years. She leaves sweets outside her backyard for us." Lucifer tilted his head. "You're not doing okay. Are you, Blaise?... You're almost avoidant of your role in the universe. You aren't happy are you?"

She shook her head. "I just want to sleep all day and all night. Instead of rest I have work to do. I'm so tired. I don't think you're real. My medication is probably just not strong enough. You're not real. I might wake up from it all one day. Maybe not now but some day."

Lucifer stared at her blankly. His claws reached into her and he pulled out a speck of what looked like black sand. Instantly she felt relieved. Goddess. What on earth was she thinking. Of course all of this was real. She's not smart enough to fabricate this stuff on her own. It has to be real. "Oh my God. Lucifer. What was I thinking? I'm so sorry for offending you. Of course you're real! How can I come up with something this surreal?!"

He chuckled. "You had a speck of darkness in you that was hidden within your light. All feelings are actually rooted in heaven or hell. You have an enemy in hell who is very powerful and who is trying to break out of hell through your Goddess' spiritual body." Blaise listened carefully. "Humans who listen to darkness are consumed by it. They end up going to hell to be purged of the darkness inside of them. But when a Goddess or God listens to darkness, they turn into sand. Black sand. As a human you can talk youself out of a number of dark fantasies. As a Goddess in the making, You may end up in Heaven or a place darker than what Hell can imagine. It's a place where Gods die. Their bodies turn to sand and are collected by guardians and dropped into a spot in hell where demons are born. You could end up birthing beings made to destroy for all eternity if I don't protect you. It's more painful than I can describe. So far you passed the requirements needed to become a great spirit to rule over a part of the universe. We assumed you would choose the light because you are so full of radiance. But anything can happen. I promise I will do my best to save you from the pain of birthing demons. You deserve to live in tbe world of the Gods. You've been so good all of your life. You were able to give birth to your Goddess' body. Surely we read the stars right. Their song sang a glory to you." Lucifer hugged Blaise. "Repeat after me. 'Soul or spirit, dark or light, fear is my enemy, an enemy's delight, I cannot see or sense your root, I send a seal to hold you mute.'"

"Soul or spirit, dark or light, fear is my enemy, an enemy's delight, I cannot see or sense your root, I send a seal to hold you mute." She had a vision. Her surroundings turned to a dark void. She was in a whirlwind of smoke. At her feet was a desert of black sand. It was all of the failed Gods that had died. Baby demons were coming out of the ground. Creatures appeared to pick them up and disappeared as quickly as they came. Hundreds of feet apart from each other. She wondered what was going on and then she was pulled to a cave where the baby creatures were fed peaches and fruits. They were demons being raised in Hell. 'This must be a pit in hell. I entered hell.' The demons were taught how to destroy things. She was pulled to another cave. Demons were casting curses to destroy evil. They were no taller than a foot. Another pulling sensation grabbed her. She was back in the void with sand between her toes as her vision became a reality. In front of her was a creature being branded ... "Stop!" She commanded. The creatures stopped. "You WILL release him!" The creatures released the demon. A light came from the heavens and Lucifer came out screaming for obedience. "OBEY ME. You will do as the Goddess commands!" At seeing Lucifer's stature the demons ran off and the one being tortured said his thanks. "YOU will bow to her and leave. You almost darkened her soul you filthy imp. Calling on the Gods to forgive you only makes them lose their power you imp! What did you do!?"

"I. I'm sorry. I was fixing an anomaly and I I.. I didn't try to destroy the root. I was just curious. I wanted to see what would happen if I chose not to. If I chose not to intervene.

The rip in the universe grew bigger. I made a black hole. I didn't know what to do. A star was destroyed because I wanted to see what it looked like. I wanted to see a soul die. It's true. The pit of the darkest regions of hell is reserved for those with the darkest heart. I shouldn't have done it. Now I don't know how to stop the pacts. Please God or Goddess, whoever you are, help me." He cried and tears spilled down his cheeks and he let out large sobs.

"Lucifer, can we fix this?" She pleaded with her eyes. Deep down inside her heart melted.

"Yes. We can."

Lucifer grabbed the demon and walked straight out of hell and into a light with Blaise following. They were back in the room she had awoken in. "This is the foundation of your kingdom. It changes to suit your needs. If you call out you can summon the heaven's stars down to you." The three stood in the room. Between the sobs Blaise called out, "Heavens. Please come down."

The room faded to nothing and they were in darkness. Tiny specks of glitter floated in the air. No. They weren't glitter. Those were stars. Small, teeny, tiny, dots of light the size of a needle tip floated everywhere.

"It is she" They said in unison. "Goddess Blaise. Welcome. Why do you call down the heaven's stars?"

Lucifer stepped in. "An imp destroyed a star. It turned into a black hole. His blasphemy was heard by Blaise, who took pitty on him and listened to his cries and blessed him with forgiveness. It turned Blaise's soul into a single grain of black sand for her interference in the laws of the code of morality. She needs to speak to the weavers of fate to undo this catastrophe."

"Weavers of Fate. The Triple Goddess Sisters?! We will light your way! We know where they are! Follow us!" The stars formed a line going up and down and tore the heavens apart to reveal a den. Three little old women sat at a tapestry coughing and weaving.

Lucifer motioned for them to follow. The imp demon had stopped crying. "Weavers?"

"We were expecting you. We will need that grain of sand to undo what has been done. The one you drew out of Blaise today." They wheezed and coughed. Lucifer handed them the grain of sand and all three sisters touched it. They started to pull it apart and it turned into a thread of light. They went to the tapestry and added the glowing thread. Carefully they chanted and weaved softly. Then the glowing stopped. "It is done."

Lucifer led the trio out of the den and back to the stars of heaven. "I've been reborn!" A small light shouted. "Hooray!" They all cheered in unison. They sang their songs of worship to the laws of life and the trio appeared back in the room as the heaven's stars climbed back to the sky. "Those stars are always singing about something. When they all sing together all throughout the air in all the universe it rings throughout every kingdome as bells.

Now, imp. You have been blessed by the Goddess Blaise. You are now indebted and I want to know if you'd form a pact with me?"

"What! Me? But I destroyed a star. That star could have been the soul of a God for all I know."

"Well no harm no foul. It lives again. Your cries were heard from hell to here. There might be use in you yet if you shape up about your duties."

Blaise was happy, content. "YES! Please forgive me for my cries from hell! I'm so very sorry." He wiped his nose on the back of his hand.

"Of course I forgive you."

"Welcome to the heavenly army. Pack your spell books and bring them into this kingdom. I'll be your teacher from now on." Lucifer saying this brightened the imp's face. He scurried away and walked through the walls and away.

"Souls are created by the Triple Goddesses of Fate. All of those tiny stars are souls created by their spells. Each one an unborn child. When an anomaly occurs, the Weavers give birth to a star. You have no idea the number of times anomolies appear. They are much more common than you think. When an anomaly is fixed, the soul is bound to the world of the Weavers. When it's not, it is unraveled and it turns into a darkness, a black hole.

It's how a spirit cries. It tries to fix itself and sucks in everything it can to fully form. It is immoral to destroy a spirit. Only demons can do that. Warriors of the Gods. He knew better. Or he should have known better.

Well either way the anomaly was forced to be fixed. Who knows what it took to repair that tear. The soul was born. The scale of good outweighs the bad. Those two love birds are happy.

The good thing is you aren't birthing demons to undo your sins for all eternity. Now are you?" Lucifer laughed.

Blaise fell asleep in her Goddess's body and was once again pulled down through a tunnel back into her own human body. It was morning. The sunlight flooded her room through the window. Lucifer laid next to her. There was so much to learn. For now she was safe and happy.
