Strange Case

Strange Case

A Poem by Karissa A. Kelly
"

If you know someone personally who goes from Jekyll to Hyde in a mere instant, sometimes for no reason at all, run as fast as you can.

"

I see the ugliest side

of one cherished in public life

The strange case by day does hide

the one who puts me through such strife.

I am the favored receiver

of the torment and actions-bold

Done by the great deceiver

whose misdeeds if told

To every mindless believer

their confidence they still would hold.

I hear the spite

am burned by the sparks of the axe to grind

No god in the sky to smite

this strange case of evil, defined.

Therefore I am doomed to bear

the gnarled jackal’s teeth

Piercing, into my soul they tear

exposing my flesh underneath.
