Definition of DepressionA Poem by Karissa A. KellyCommonly misunderstood, mistaken for an emotion synonymous with "sad". Seldom comprehended. Even rarer, recognized without a debate over it's existence in you.Alienating Like standing in the blazing sun Peering through a window To the inside where everyone is Drinking ice water in an air conditioned room Forced to watch and endure. Debilitating As if when you’ve just started to run And you fall into a throe On your body and mind, imprinted injuries The same question will loom How long they linger, you’re unsure. Afflicting Watching the world around you in fun The only thing you know Is simply this Unrelenting doom For which there is no cure. Desolation It is coming undone At a pace unbearably slow Sinking into the abyss That will become your tomb Hurting worse than ever before. © 2020 Karissa A. Kelly |
