A Miscellany of Green

A Miscellany of Green

A Poem by Karissa A. Kelly
"

Hatred of others is born from jealousy and one's own insecurity.

"
The way you look at me
or anyone at all
The blind could even see
how massive is your gall.

A talent so far unseen
how easily you vex
Any one who has ever been
hapless enough to meet your hex.

There's jealousy in your eyes
It's there with everything you've seen
Anybody passing by
you find something to despise.

And yet there's two or three
little things on which you'd pass
Things about you that you see
every day in the looking glass.

It must be so very heavy
hauling along every day
Your black heart so full of envy
it must have started to decay.

I'm sure by now you know
this spite of which I speak
And after such a striking blow
your ego must be very weak.

Now it is the time
to go on and take a chance
To reckon with your crime
and cease this song and dance.

Repair, improve and fix
polish off the sheen
put away the tricks
and lift the emerald screen
bust down the walls and bricks
there's no need to primp or preen
foolish devices to nix
those of the Miscellany of Green.
