Revive Me

Revive Me

A Poem by Karen Sue

Revive Me

I'll ply you with these words
(They are all I have),
And will you stand aloof,
World-weary, rolling your eyes
At my over-simplifications?
Because I will tell you
(No matter how tired the lines,
They hold truth)
Your smile, when it's true,
Is brighter than sunshine
To my graying spirit,
And when you're near,
Weak-kneed I have the
Flutter of a love song
Dancing in my heart,
But when you're gone,
All is flat and silent
And achromatic -
Duller even than
My worn-out wit,
So come revive me
With your
Kiss
