SkyLine

SkyLine

A Poem by Sea Light

Grey clouds hug the skyline
Orange sun indicate new day
On the bus she’s on her way to pay
The bills that leave the thrills
Of living out on the street with cold chills
Streaking across labored spine
That in due time
Will crack, break, and shatter
Because of a husband kicking and batter
His wife
Has the strife to fight back
To fend off violent attack
From a weakened man
That just couldn’t stand
A day without a drink
Jack Daniels pushing him to the brink
Of madness
Presently sober he’s full of sadness
To come home alone
Where the roaches roam
Night and day
They play
On the dust cracked blinds
That refuses to display the now blue skyline.
