WHEN SOMEONE DIES by Karen Arizona
When someone dies people always say stuff like, “He was so good to me,” or “She helped me with taking care of my house and was always there for me.” No one says anything like, “He was a true friend to himself and he mastered every goal that he set for himself,” or “She was always quick to forgive herself when she made a mistake and she was self embracing.” I think that it’s all good and nice to remember our loved ones for what they did for us. I also think that it’s important to remember what they did for themselves.

My father gave himself a certain privacy that he utilized in his life to find his rightful place in the world he lived in. He protected himself and the heart of his feelings in ways that were comfortable for him. He was a wonderful man that seemed at peace with who he was, what he believed in, and he was always standing in the center of where he wanted to be. And, when I think of my father’s wife, who was also my most precious mother, I can’t help but feel she was a deep thinker who had secret places to run to. I think that only my father was allowed in the deeper places of her heart. It was a cherished place that held the private world of her dreams for her.
