I remember...

This is a poem about my dog Hera... she had just passed away about a week from thanks giving... I miss my baby girl so I wrote how I felt...

I remember you,

Your black nose,

Your beautiful brown eyes,

Your yellow fur,

You were my baby girl,

My akita to love,

Hold,

And treasure forever,

But the forever part,

Doesn't happen,

Because you are gone now,

I have cried many tears,

To say farewell to you,

Now you are in this pot,

Ashes and all,

I remember,

When we went for those walks,

Around the block,

A few times,

I remember,

When you were so sick,

You were so skinny,

And fragile,

No madder how much we tried,

You just had to go,

You were my dog,

My happiness,

And you have gone away,

So since you have died,

I am alone,

Staring at nothing,

But your pot of ashes.

Sniff... I can relate too. I have a "Mickey" in a can; it's been a while but I remember. A good friend. At some point I want to take him back to the ocean, where we first met, and see him run up and down the beach. Thanks for sharing and making me think of him, Jocelin. It's a great poem! :)

ANWYAY, on the poem side of things: this is amazing. definitely emotional. the emotions came at me and i felt my heart shriveling in my chest. such strong emotions and amazing flow. lovely word choice and very sweet, very sad.
