Some meaning

Some meaning

A Poem by KaplanKop

Once, twice, try again,
Delete that word, edit the copy,
She's almost done with her book,
But work waits in the morning,
Another shift stacking shelves,
This little project keeps her life going, some little meaning,
Skits, comedy shows and crime thrillers every week,
Keeps Sally going, that useless television,
Weeks and years go by,
Cities are built, money, skyscrapers, families, all come and go,
We vie with other humans, brutally, grab each other by the neck and shove the next man down to the gutter stamping on his face till he's gone,
Just so the job is ours, not theirs,
Only so much to go around,
It's time to go home and be nice to the kids
