One Day, Poetry Will Rule The WorldA Poem by Master K-topsOne day, poetry will rule the world And build a palace with the bricks of nouns, It will make servants of supple verbs And command an army of fearless idioms With piercing swords of rebellious words It shall bleed falsehood dry and expose truth In literary battlefields of glorious conquests. Its school of wordsmithery shall be the grooming home Of children still sucking their mothers' breasts With musical alacrity, it shall sing songs of hope Unto the despair in the hearts of men The walls of fear and agony will give way To the wrecking balls of courageous puns And gleeful hyperboles. One day it will save the world from itself It shall preach peace and love with scriptures Written by the prophetic pens of Wordsworth and Okigbo It shall rule the world with its own poetic wisdom And clip the wings of evils that roam the earth The universe will become a paradise of its own Where we will all be one in rhythmic solidarity. One day, I say, poetry will rule the world In the minds of mad poets like me And in the confines of wishful poems like this. © 2015 Master K-topsAuthor's Note
