21st Century African Chick

21st Century African Chick

A Poem by Master K-tops

21ST CENTURY AFRICAN CHICK
I paint my face with poster colour make-up
And wear tight stretch-mark revealing dresses,
I apply blush to my ash-dark face
And fix multi-coloured artificial hair,
Because I'm a new-age African chick.

I post awkward duck-face selfies online
And flaunt my white-bleached body on Instagram
I bear a foreign user name to seem sexier
And my timeline is full of misused internet slangs,
Becuse I'm a new-age African chick.

I shamelessly switch between various accents
And speak my own name with a strange tongue,
I pretend to hate amala and gbegiri
And I instead order fresh-from-the-oven ice cream,
Because I'm a new-age African chick.

I have an incredibly low self-esteem
And so I put on nine-inch high-heeled shoes,
I copy and paste the white woman's ways
And I sacrifice my bootylicious curves for a thin body,
Because I'm a new-age African chick.
