SEGILOLA:The Witch Of The SouthA Poem by Master K-tops
The old witch of the Yoruba land
Haggered, fearful though without a wand With darkening teeth and stone-hard hair And wrinkled face not at all fair Embittered by loss decades ago Eluding her entire life is joyful glow The death of her daughter at childbirth Led to her own emotional death The whole village did mock her for her loss Some even said that she was the cause That she sacrificed her only child To get powers beyond wild Broken, betrayed, cursed and dejected With tears in her heart the village she fled To a far away and peaceful city She was enveloped by self-pity She could still hear her beautiful girl Singing in the moonlight, though now a dirge Convinced nature did play no part In the loss that now hilights her life She swore to avenge with a fight And thus, summon her supernatural might ........................
