Normal Madness

Normal Madness

A Poem by Master K-tops

Bloodshed fills the air with no repentance
The streets beautified with burning buildings
Still bodies lie all over the place with no tending
Screams of women and kids fill the fragrance
Hopes and dreams all dashed on the battlefield
Which anger and modern savagery has filled

Fallen men lie eyes opened in agitating fear
Of what eventually caused their ending
All in the name of loyal nation-defending
They have been made to fight for not their cause
For in truth, they'd rather be with their families
But fight for the men in power,so rascally

Can you smell it?
Yes,that same odour that hits you like a train!
It is the stench of wickedness, rebirth of Cain!
Over cases they can solve without fists
They take the case not to the battleground
But to the cities where women and children are found
And send them to battle-fathers,brothers,uncles,sons
With guns in hands only to eventually die by guns

The child is fatherless
The family is homeless
The generals are shameless
The poor dead are blameless
For it is this normal madness
That is now our eternal illness

The future Einstien is starved to death
This next generation's Hugo is killed by grenade
Fatherlessnesss, the future Lincoln does not evade
And human hearts now have no light or depth
But filled with the need to kill and destroy
Soon, half the universe becomes a Troy

I hope you havent experienced these things first hand. You built up the chaotic picture very well, it reminded me of stories a somali friend told me.

my faveorite stanza is the last, as It really hits home that there is much potential in Africa that is being wasted. As you say there could be people with the ability to change the world, but they are not given the chance to change.

Good words writer.

this poem paints a clear picture of a chaotic world. It reminds me of a movie I watched a long time ago, hotel Rwanda, if you watch this or if you have watched it I think you will see a clear picture of what you have put down here. very well penned, I like the words and allusions used....gud 1

I have lived in a civil war in Lebanon before and saw and felt the horror and wickedness of unjust wars and fighting between brothers. No just cause , no defence of freedom or rights , no care about human value or values. Just hatred and religious intolerance. I know in other countries it is for similar or different reasons but I hope they work towards peace and understanding between different groups and live in love and tolerance. But that is hard to do for some people. A wonderful write...:)...........
