The last Note

The last Note

A Poem by Sam
"

For a Student, To the World not accepting the Talents

"

I was one of a kind,

In their eyes a useless mind.

They discouraged me with their bitter voice,

And left me with the Hobson choice .

The cold breeze startled my spine.

I went through the flashback of my time.

I wrote my own fate,

Teachers forced me on my grades.

They said my future is dark,

But it was in need of a spark.

Everyone was enjoying their life but me.

I made a big leap,

Towards the end of it.

Saw the people with their pride,

Down the rat race to glide.

They were diamond in the rough,

Tried to make the best out of the tough.

Screams of the people, pain in me

Died with a voice, made by the noise.

No tears, No rues,

No torture, No more race.

‘Coward’ was inscribed on my headstone,

Which killed me more under the stone.

I was laid there numb,

With the Magnum opus on my tomb.

So how do we change paradigms such that we do not box individuals? Beyond a commitment to develop a person's academic competence lies more important aspects of developing his character, his conscience and a sense of compassion. Education today is still a reflection of the Industrial Age where you "educate" a herd to be workers. And indeed, if educators are not committed to their vocation, the focus so much on the academics and the norm that they forget that there is a special individual in each student.
The mark of a man is not measured by competence alone. His character, conscience and compassion encompass a greater dimension of who he is than a number on a sheet of paper.

Wow! Sad story! Poor guy who ever this person is. People often discourage us with their words. Sometimes intentionally and sometimes not. "Coward" was inscribed on my headstone, Which killed me more under the stone. Deep line! Thanks for sharing! Nice work!
