Mind boggling they say

The way your body changes colors from ivory to ebony

You thought they were obsessed

 

But you wonder about them too

Keeping watch, of all those below you

They catch you in the daylight sometimes

You’re to embarrassed to admit

That you fell asleep watching these intriguing individuals

Watching them, watch you

You peer out like a child

Hiding behind a curtain

Behind those surfaces of clouds

 

Different phases of you

At various times, but only those who watch

Can sense your pattern

A beautiful mosaic

Of an intricate design

All part of something bigger

Mysterious,

As the city that lives underneath the sea

 

A sliver of silver paint

Pulling them in

That gravity,

That pulls me down

Cannot even stand to you

Relentless distance
