High Five

High Five

A Poem by Onyx Sky

High Five

I looked into his eyes and he said give me a high five.
I looked at it enticed but wanted to convince otherwise
I took my pointer finger and laced it in the middle of his palm
"That’s only one" he said
I placed my thumb on his thumb
"That’s two" he smiles
My middle finger on his, he looks into my eyes
"That’s three, go on."
My ring finger touched his
"Four."
My pinky grazed his pinky
"Five. Was that so hard"?
I smiled.
My hand the mirror image of his
Lingering on his skin, for jus seconds
Had it been minutes?
Realizing I hadn't let go
I abruptly dropped my hand from his
The dimples in his cheeks
Refusing to disappear
