Blue Light Reflection

Blue Light Reflection

A Poem by Kanae
"

This poem reflects on the affects of being on your phone at night

"

You can’t see it but you can feel it,

the constant alertness within -

despite the dark surrounding you.

The small screen bounces light, they

dance within your retinas, corneas, your

nerves. The electronic clock on the top

right reads 2:13 am.

Your phone is finally put to sleep and

you close your eyes in hopes of also

falling into slumber. But it still

resides in you, the hands of your

internal clock spin wildly in your

brain. You cannot sleep, it will

not come. The invisible blue light

stares back at you from within.

Author's Note

Kanae
This poem actually came from the fact that my boyfriend always tells me that the blue light in your phone keeps you awake at night, so he always tells me to put my phone down and go to sleep when we talk on the phone at night.

As always, I'm simply looking for your honest opinion on my work.

Cheers,
Kanae

I can sympathise with your poetic piece, my phone often did this to me, I’ve also suffered insomnia on and off over the years.. I can’t cope
with lack of sleep so I always
switch my phone off, your boyfriend gave you good advice. Your imagery paints
the perfect picture of all of this .
