Lies

The greatest lie of all.

You were the only one I thought would never lie.

If I fell, you would take the blow, and cushion my fall.

And here I am, and no apologies you can make will make up for these tears of mine.

My heart broke while I waited in vain for your call.

 

You said a lot of things,

You'd never leave,

You'd never get angry.

You'd never repeat the mistakes of those who came before you.

 

You said you'd never hurt me. 

 

Of all these things, I now know none of them were true.

But the lie that killed me the most was

"I Love You."

Author's Note

So I wrote this over a year ago, when my boyfriend cheated on me with a drug addict. I actually wrote it in Driver's Ed class.

My favourite lines of the poem are the last ones because I totally agree that it is one of the worst things someone can say when they do not mean it...people need to stop spreading it around like it's candy or something because it's not, if they don't feel it then they shouldn't say it untill they do. It is a good poem about a sad situation. Great job!
