Chapter Three : Cori

         I woke up laying on a bed. I saw my sister hovering over me “Damn Cori are you okay?” I nodded “A tad sore.” Claudia smiled “You’re lucky that you are not dead.” I sat up wincing “What does that mean?” Claudia patted my hand “The bolt almost got to your veins, and the muscle tissue was under severe damage.”

        I looked at my shoulder it was wrapped up and I felt a small warming sensation behind it.

“One of the nurses here is a magic user she was able to defrost your muscle tissue in time to save it.”

Sighing I looked at my sister

“That bad?”

Claudia nodded

“If it had not been for Viola you may have had to gotten the whole muscle removed before the toxin spread and froze your arties.”

        I nodded “So… is Viola the girl you like?” Claudia looked at me and laughed “Shut up Cori this is serious.” Chuckling I moved myself to sit up more. 

“I did not mean to worry you Claudia.” Claudia sighed “I always worry about you.” 

I adjusted my arm that was now in sling

“Can I go home now?”

Claudia frowned “Doctor Nigel wants to make sure the Ice bolt didn’t spread anywhere else so you’re under forty-eight-hour watch.”

        I groaned “Oh come on!”

Claudia giggled “I am just kidding you slept through your forty-eight-hour watch.”

Looking at her I shook my head

“What? How long have I been out?”

Claudia tisked

“Four days.” I hoped up and sat on the edge of the bed. Claudia stood up

“Let me help you.” I held my and up and stood swaying a bit.

“I am fine where are my clothes?”

Claudia sighed

“I got you some jeans and a tank top to wear.”

She handed me to them they were in a bag.

“Thanks.”

Claudia nodded

“The tank is blue and I eve packed your grey sheep skin jacket inside.”

I smiled

“You’re the best Claudia.”

        I got dressed with the help of my sister who continued to tell me about what all happened the night I came in. 

“ I suggest you take it easy from now on Cori.”

Said Doctor Nigel when we were on our way out of the Infirmary. Claudia smiled waving

“Thank you Doctor Nigel.”

He waved good bye at us and we left heading home.

“Are mom and dad mad?”

Claudia smiled a tad

“Mom was furious that you took a risk of running two crates; dad was just surprised you continued to run with an Ice bolt hit.”

        I laughed

“Nothing I can’t handle.”

Claudia laughed as we started to get closer to home

“The Archemage wants to see us tonight.”

I coughed a tad

“Why?”

Claudia shrugged

“All I know is when you were in the Infirmary he came by saying he would be coming by for dinner once you were home.

        I started wondering what Archemage Alistair could be wanting.

“Maybe you got into the mage school?”

Claudia laughed

“I doubt it plus I was wanting to study under Doctor Nigel and perhaps become a doctor myself.”

I smiled “Doctor Claudia Rivers does have a nice ring.” 

Claudia shoved me a tad

“So does Sargent Cordelia Rivers.”

I shoved her back in the moment of laughter we saw our mom waiting outside for us Claudia gulped

“Looks like mom is upset with you.” I groaned “Great.”

        We got in and Mom stopped me on the porch opening my jacket that was draped over my shoulders. “

Cori… you know better.”

I sighed

“Mom I know but it was so much food and you know its almost winter and I thought we could save some.”

Mom hugged me

“I am just happy you are alive.”

I hugged her back with my good arm

“I love you mom.”

Mom held me

“I cooked some roast beef for dinner tonight I will get you a plate." I smiled

“That sounds great mom.”

She smiled and rubbed my face; she went inside first as I followed I smiled glad to be back home.
